"SWAFFHAM PRIOR WAR MEMORIAL WINDOWS"

The memorial in St Mary's Church consists of three windows each with two lights. These six lights show scenes from the war, medical care and peace. The names of the fallen and dedications are on brass plates on the wall below the windows. Some of words used have attracted attention in this PC age, but at the time no doubt Mr Allix, having paid for the windows, was determined to put his views of the war for all to see.

The magnificent stained glass windows in St Mary's Church deserve a separate page of their own here.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them.
